AmeriCorps Position: Family Resource Center Specialist
The Family Resource Center Specialist (FRCS) is responsible for assisting the Coordinator in running all aspects of the Family Resource Center (FRC). The FRCS shall:
• Work as part of a team to ensure a safe, friendly, and effective FRC.
• Provide enriching Play care activities and be responsible for the infants and children in his/her care while children are in the FRC.
• Facilitate Effective Parenting workshops (i.e.: Make Parenting A Pleasure), and keep detailed records of attendance, participation, and family information.
• Develop curriculum, plan lessons, and facilitate school readiness child development play groups (i.e.: Mommy & Me), and other support groups.
• Perform Home Visitation duties to a small number of families at the discretion of the Program Manager.
• Outreach to and effectively engage families, community members, local businesses, and other agencies in both one-on-one and large group settings.
• Submit timely and accurate data collection, write detailed progress notes, administer assessments, and keep organized charts.
• Maintain a safe, clean, resourceful, and enriching FRC environment for families and staff. This includes but is not limited to moving wheeled furniture, cleaning after events, filing and maintaining the Resource Room, and sorting clothes.

AmeriCorps is a government funded community service program designed to help communities meet the specified needs in their area by recruiting and training individuals who are willing to devote one to two years serving in selected community projects.

Service programs strengthen communities, encourage responsibility, expand opportunities for education, provide service experience, and increase life skills.

Basic Qualifications:
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to individuals who may not share basic commonality, including value systems and behavior norms.
• Demonstrate good writing and organizational skill.
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a valid California Driver’s license, reliable transportation and auto insurance.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Clearance of National Service Criminal History Check.
• Ability to serve with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to report to work on a regular and reliable basis.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes day hours, one evening a week, and may include weekend hours infrequently.
• Able to travel between sites and to off-site events.
Highly Desirable Candidates for the position of FRC Specialist will possess:
-Bilingual capacities in English/Spanish or English/Russian
-Bachelor's Degree
-ECE Units
The Effort is a locally renowned agency that serves Sacramento County through alcohol and drug rehabilitation and education, mental health professionals, medical clinics, and child abuse prevention programs such as The Effort North Highlands Family Resource Center and Birth & Beyond Community Response.

Birth & Beyond Community Response focuses on preventing child abuse in overburdened families by incorporating home visiting and family resource centers as a strategy for service delivery.

This AmeriCorps position will provide a living stipend equal to $10-$12 an hour (depending on experience, education, and language capacity) and upon completion of a 1700 hour term will obtain an Education Award of $4,725. Must be able to start position 12/1/2009.

Does anyone have any suggested readings to study for the CADAC test? I have completed the ciriciullum and iternship and will be taking the test on the next go around
